Levy Funding

We work with Government-approved providers to help you achieve CIPD Level 5, or CIPD Level 7 qualifications using your levy funding.

Levy funding is a great way to boost your career – and it is NOT just for school leavers, manual workers or those fresh out of college.

You can start an apprenticeship at any point in your life, regardless of your career or educational background.

Bosses can use levy funding to train their existing employees as well as to hire new apprentices.

In January 2021, the Government expanded the reach of apprenticeships to include Level 7 qualifications. Once the approval process for this new standard has been confirmed, more details will be available.

More about levy funding if you are a learner

Anyone aged 16 or over and entitled to work in the UK can use levy funding. You will be doing a paid job but also studying to gain new skills and knowledge.

You will spend 80% of the working week doing your job and 20% studying. The fees for your studies and qualifications will be paid by your company and the Government.

If you are already working in a company but want to know if you are eligible to develop your skills under the levy funding scheme, reach out to your line manager.

More about levy funding if you are an employer

If you are an employer with a wages bill of more than £3 million a year, you must pay the Apprenticeship Levy.

But if your wages bill is less than £3 million a year, and you do not pay the levy, you can still develop your employees with the Government’s help. You will pay just 5% towards the cost of training and assessing an apprentice. The Government will pay the rest up to the funding band maximum. The Apprenticeship Levy

The Apprenticeship Levy is a UK tax that can be used to fund apprenticeship training.

You can use the levy for any of your employees, no matter what age they are, as long as they meet the requirements of the Skills Funding Agency (SFA).

Companies with an annual wage bill of more than £3 million must pay 0.5% of their annual payroll each month - minus a £15,000 allowance - into a Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account. This money can then be drawn down to spend on apprenticeship training at any time in the next 24 months. You get an extra 10% top-up from the Government too. Any funds that are not spent after this time will expire and be reclaimed by HMRC.

Apprenticeship Levy funding for Level 7 CIPD qualifications is not yet fully available. Contact us for an update.

You can share up to 25% of your levy contribution with other levy paying companies.
